We are well established as a Registered Land Surveyors and Civil Structural Engineering firm based in central western Sydney. Our reputation spans over 40 years and we have completed over 40,000 projects ranging from residential, commercial and public sector developments. We are extremely proud to say that we have played a pivotal role in enhancing the street appeal of many buildings all around Sydney and we’re looking to add to our impressive ‘portfolio’ of completed projects.
Serving the greater Sydney area since 1983, we are currently looking for a Financial Controller to join our team of 40+ professionals on a full time basis.

Key Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Day-to-day financial control of the business
- Achieving daily, weekly, and monthly reporting deadlines
- Providing financial analysis to identify business opportunities and risks
- Sustaining strong working relationships with key business partners
- Budgeting and forecasting, including the preparation of the annual budget as well as ongoing review and re-forecasting as necessary
- Preparing monthly accounts, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, cash flow and sales reports, P&L, variance analysis and monthly management reports
- Providing project management support, including monitoring the progress of projects
- Investigating variances, approving expenses, and ensuring that project billings are issued to customers and payments are collected (accounts payable / receivables)
- Providing asset related advice and support, including recording the cost of newly acquired fixed assets, tracking fixed assets, recording depreciation and accounting for the dispositions of fixed assets
- Fulfilment of taxation and other statutory requirements including BAS, PAYG, Payroll Tax, and FBT returns, Workers’ Compensation Superannuation, ASIC
- Preparing audit documentation and liaising with external auditors and managing yearend audits
- End-to-end preparation of fortnightly employee payroll as well as managing leave records and entitlements
- Managing and training the accounting support team members
- Assessing and reducing fixed spending and variable overhead spending
- Increasing efficiency in handling accounting controls, and implementing budget forecasting
- Performing budget vs actual performance variance analysis
- Extracting and summarising in everyday English critical finance-related information for distribution and discussion with key stakeholders and divisional heads
- Maintaining up-to-date industry knowledge
- Assuming the responsibility of the financial driver of the business for short and long-term growth, stability, and profitability goals
- Establishing proper metrics for meaningful business improvement
- Proactive approach about identifying problems before they arise

Mandatory skills, experience and requirements:
- Experienced Financial Controller; development background preferred
- Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
- Have an excellent level of financial and accounting experience
- Ability to communicate effectively across disciplines
- Ability to multitask and meet strict deadlines
- Ability to improve and optimise current practices and processes
- Attention to detail in all aspects of the position
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
